AAAARGH! (or "Adventures in Upgrading")

Lesson re-learned the hard way:

Never run a BIOS upgrade through Windows with 5 other apps running.

I can't believe I forgot and did that to myself...
Killed my old mainboard, it won't even POST.

On the up-side, I have a new Pentium D Dual core PC now!

So there I was installing Windows and I kept getting copy errors and random blue-screens.

Turned out my brand new 1 GB stick of DDR2 533 was faulty.
The computer shop were too swamped with other jobs to look at my PC, so I bought another one and swapped it over to prove to the computer shop that it was the RAM.

So they accepted it was the RAM.
Even better, they swapped both sticks for me for DDR2 667 even though it's more than the board needs as it cost them the same amount.

In other hardware news, I also have a Logitech MX5000 Cordless Bluetooth Desktop.
All I can say is, very snazzy! I might post some pics later...

Sims 2 Pets and Glamour Life Stuff Packs!

Just got these a short time ago and I'm loving the personalities of the pets!
If you haven't seen it yet, go check out The Sims 2 official site. Do it now!

I think I'll lose my social life again soon if I'm not careful...

What's your Balinese sign?

The Balinese have an incredibly complicated horoscope:

www.pawukon.com
Your Balinese sign is: Inverted Demon

Character:
Thinks that his problems are easy to solve, intelligent but vain, like mysticysm, well-known person. Becomes mad easily and is often disappointed...

Supanova looks fun...

Supanova looks like the sort of thing I'd enjoy.
It's a shame I only just heard about it...

Ever wanted to create your own epic tales?

Just found out about the Historic Tale Contruction Kit, which allows you to create and illustrate stories using images from the Bayeux Tapestry.

Kind of neat, I think!

Updating just for the sake of it.

Scanner died, printer died, cancelling the broadband was a logical progression from there.

It's amazing how quickly you can fall into the trap of replacing "Having A Life" with just sitting in front of a PC. The Sims 2 was the main culprit but not the only one.

I'm drawing by hand on paper again, it feels more "real" anyway.
I will more than likely scrap this blog soon, it's basically just a link repository for me anyway at the moment!

Maybe I'll start another one when I finally start my webcomic. Who knows?

Been drawing a bit...

I will post small versions here later and will scan and upload to my deviantart page soon.

Links updated slightly

Added Saturnalia to the "Webcomics I like" links.

I've been reading it for years but Space Coyote has recently started updating again after a long hiatus :)

Been very slack lately

Not much drawing, not much blogging.

Too much playing Sims 2 and generally being lazy.

11 hours on the road today.

6 to 8 hours yesterday.
So much for going home the quick way :)

Saw a movie tonight...

I can't recommend V for Vendetta enough.
While I don't necessarily agree with the politics in it, it was a good action film.

Knowing nothing about the comic it was based on might have helped.

Way up North

Visiting family in Queensland.

Driving over 1300 km in 2 days is tiring...
Crossed 2 state borders on the way.
I am reminded that Australia is HUGE!

Links updated.

They were WAAAAAAYYYY out of date.

New links added to the webcomics section and personal website link updated too.

I can't believe I missed noticing this!

Depeche Mode have had a very good album out since October last year called Playing the Angel.

The only reason I found out was because there was a Simlish version of Suffer Well included in the "New Age" music style added to The Sims 2 with the Open For Business expansion.

That's kind of sad!

I really like the Suffer Well machinima video clip, though :)

Sunday, April 16, 2006

Sims 2 keeps getting new expansions...

...and I keep playing them.

So for now I will just update with this little post.

I'll have to update my deviantart page, it's looking a bit sad.

I have been drawing but it's not original stuff at present, just learning how to draw manga and how to draw more manga.

I love having a job with so much free time, I just have to put it to better use.

Deviousness...

I am now a member of deviantART.

All my "deviations" may be found here.

Big Day Out Sydney 2006 (Photos!)

So, I forgot to charge my camera before going (grrr!), so the batteries were too flat to take many pictures.

I did get some good ones regardless, which I'll post later.

Meanwhile, these pics are from my crappy mobile phone camera, in approximate chronolgical order:

I've started sketching a bit.

In order to prepare for this webcomic thing.

So far I almost have one character worked out :)

Be the Zombie!

I just installed Stubbs the Zombie - Rebel Without a Pulse and played through the tutorial before work this evening.

I can't recommend it highly enough!

It has a great B-Movie feel with a filmic look.

Remember those classic old games?

Want maps of them?

I love this idea, I just wish they had more in the Arcade section.

Considering I'm a MAME fan, maybe I should submit some myself...

Credit goes to Scott Ramsoomair of VGCats fame for finding that one!

Heavy stuff...

A friend had his 29th birthday on Saturday.
We went over and wished him "happy birthday" at around 10:30 PM, then went home around midnight.

He died in his sleep that night. I won't go into detail.

This scares me.
I'm 29. In fact, I'm almost 30.

His funeral is this morning.

You know you want to play it...

Because it's Bubble Bobble!

Games, Movies and such...

So I'm eagerly awaiting Rise of Legends.
Looks like a great game, I just hope my PC can run it! It's getting a little long in the tooth these days...

For those who haven't yet seen it, I thoroughly recommend Fun With Dick and Jane. It's got some great piss-takes of classic movies as well as enough original stuff to keep it interesting.

I am also looking forward to Underworld: Evolution. I thoroughly enjoyed the first movie so I think this should be good too.
They have a little online game, too.

Why old phone cameras suck

This is taken with my Nokia 7250i camera phone (in "night shot" mode):

Now, if phone cameras had a flash, they might not suck as much!

Mail-to-Blogger test

If you can read this, I got Mail-to-Blogger working.

Yay me!

There's a reason you don't normally get orange frozen Margaritas.

I found out that if you replace the lime cordial with orange juice, it is not sweet enough!

Although this can be fixed with the addition of sugar, it is not sufficient to merely add undissolved white sugar. Speaking from experience, I would recommend adding sugar syrup or using orange cordial instead of juice.

Happy New Year!

May 2006 live up to all of your expectations!

Note: I didn't actually post this at the time listed, I was far too busy actually enjoying the New Year!
